Slut Walk 2011, Denver Colorado

Best Poster At Slut Walk!

Master and me were not sure we were going to be able to go to Slut Walk, though we both support the cause so much.  I’ve been pretty sick and haven’t been feeling well at all lately.  I woke up still feeling under the weather, but a bit better than I have felt, and the medicine the doctor gave me helps loads.  We called the office to see if they knew what I had yet – but the tests results still were not in.  We decided to go to Slut Walk, and if I felt like I was getting sicker or something, we could always just go home early.

Crowd Picture

As you’ll be able to see from my pictures, the sort of clothing people wore ran the gammut from jeans and a T-Shirt, to pasties, to latex, and more.  There were all sorts!  I chose to wear the outfit that my dentist tried to slut-shame me in, though I added some socks and my new Hello Kitty back pack.  While we were there, Master borrowed some red paint from one of the women, and wrote “slut” across my chest in red paint.  So, you know, it didn’t feel like much was different than usual.

This Is What A Slut Looks Like

There were a lot more people than we thought there would be, based on the people we saw responding to the Slut Walk Denver forums on Twitter, Facebook, Etc.  It was a decent turn out.  We tried to just hang out in the shade a lot, but there wasn’t a ton of it.  Shade, that is.

Slut Walk, Denver 2011

What is the point of Slut Walk?

That no matter how you’re dressed, or who you are – you are never the cause of your rape, or sexual abuse.

Rapists are.

That you should have the right to dress however you want – and know that you are safe.

Because wearing a skirt is never an invitation to touch, but you can look all you like.

That rapists are the ones who need to take the blame for rape, and not the rape victim.

That sluts come in all shapes, sizes, ethnicities, backgrounds, ages, weights, genders, and more.

That just because you are a woman does not mean that anyone has any right to touch you without your consent.

Consent is always key, and it shouldn’t matter if you are awake or not.

..And many, many other things which should be obvious but for whatever reason are not.

Master Got Me A Popsicle. I Think He Just Wanted To See Me With This Huge Thing In My Mouth.

It was hot, and sunny, but nice out.  We wore sunblock, and Master sprayed me down extra a couple of times to be sure I wouldn’t burn.  I still got a tiny burn on my face though.  Nothing major.

We both had a lot of fun, and it was great to be a part of a cause that Master and me both care deeply for.  Sexual interaction of any kind without consent – is never, ever OK.  It was wonderful to be around so many people who understood and encouraged that.

I Love Master For Letting Me Take This Shot. :D

Overall it was a fun day, and I am so glad we were able to be a part of it!  There are so many cool and fun things happening this month that I can barely contain myself.  Next up should be Thunder In The Mountains.  Awesome!

Mew!

Glad to hear you were able to make it…I attended the one is Vancouver a month ago and it was awesome to see so many different people of different ages, races, genders, orientations, style’s of clothing etc…all supporting such an important cause and message. My poster said “No means no, no matter what I’m wearing” and had a glittery pink stiletto on it ;) Oh, and I hope the popsicle was yummy ^.^

    • @CheshireKitten I chickened out last second on making a poster, though I was going to write “No is not the new Yes”. Oh well. :) The popsicle was SO good Master ate a bunch of mine before buying one of his own. :)
