Master, Before And After

Master, At His Largest, 322

A few of Master’s old friends have asked to see before and after pictures of Master, and his tremendous weight loss.  For those of you who don’t know, Master weighed 322 at his highest, and right now he weighs 162.  At this healthy weight, he is still trying to lose, but he plans to go into maintenance mode when he finally beats his pre-diabetes.  Hopefully soon.  Above is a picture at his largest.  Below, you’ll see a picture of Master at his current weight of about 160 pounds.

Master, 160

If you do the math, that means that Master has lost a grand total of 162 pounds.  You could make another person with the pounds he’s lost.  That is amazing.  Which way do I prefer him?  Both ways.  I think he is tremendously sexy both ways.  I love bigger guys, but the fact that Master is healthier now makes me happy.  I want him to live forever, or at least – longer than me.  I’m not good at mourning.

Master used to tell me that he thought he was built for comfort, not speed.  I hadn’t heard him say that in a while, so I asked him if he thought he was still more comfort than speed.  He laughed and said no.  He has a lot more energy, he is more active, and I love him to pieces for caring enough about his health to make the effort.

As an aside, many people ask him how he lost the weight.  Just so you guys know, there were no tricks here.  He worked out (a LOT!), cut out a lot of the junk he was eating (for example, eating an apple instead of tons of cheese, which was his favorite snack), and changed the quality of the food he was eating when he went out.  He loves to eat out and since that isn’t going to change, he just changed the food he ordered.  Instead of getting a large fry, he’d get a small one, and share.  He’d get a side salad, things like that.  For Master, it was mainly about portion sizes when eating out.  No magic beans, no super diet fads, just moderate eating and moderate activity.  For reals.

Congrats, Master!  You’re an inspiration to many people, myself included.

I love you.

  1. WOW! Your Master is definitely an inspiration to me (I seriously want to lose a good 120-130lbs myself :S) though what has he done for exercise (Also, how regularly per day/week?) and over how much time? (since your post doesn’t say when he started)

Btw offtopic for a moment, I *adored* your post about Serenade, I’m sure she’ll fit into your family quite quickly :-)

    • @ShadowKitten I will let him know! The type of exercise he has been doing was mainly walking and hiking. He started out walking about twenty or thirty minutes a day, and slowly increased it. Lately, he walks 8 miles a day, not that that is reasonable for most people. He really started to shed the weight though when he bought Wii Fit Plus. There is a program on it that allows you to walk while you change the channel to watch other TV shows, and he would do that at least one hour a day once he got his stamina up. :) Also, it took him about three years to lose all that weight. Slow and steady. :)

And thank you! I will let Serenade know. :)

  2. Congratulations!! I guess I should go on a diet as well, but that can wait ’cause the situation is not that serious. I think your Master really did the best thing, replacing junk food with “useful” food. It must have taken a lot of effort and dedication! Best wishes for his health :)

  3. Thanks Kitty. You were the inspiration and still the biggest factor in my weightloss. You keep “honest” and guide my healthy choices.

As for what I do to lose weight for exercise. At the peak of exercising I was walking to and from work daily, 1 hour each way, all kind of weather about 8 miles. I also wore a pedometer and made sure I did at least 10,000 steps each day – usually 15,000 steps a day through out the day. I also put in 45 Minutes of strength training 5 days a week and tried to get 2 hour walk each day on the weekend and 3 hours of strength training on Saturdays for a while too. One day a week I I took off, but not from walking.

As an aside I stopped drinking my calories and added about 6 cups a green tea a day to my intake. (As a caffine replacement for the 2 liter of coke I used to drink each day.)

Seriously measure your intake of calories and measure your output in terms of burned calories. The secret is to consume less calories then you burn while changing the sources of those calories to healthier choices.

I’m not perfect and weight loss slows down as you have less to lose but keep going. I know exercise sucks when your 300+ lbs. Fortunately at that size just restricting your intake is a serious help in weight loss.

Good Luck evryone who needs it. ;)

  4. WOWZA!!! 162 lbs?!! That’s amazing!! Great job :)

Best of luck and keep being a great inspiration! (Both of you, since Faete is just so darn adorable) xx
