When we first got Serenade, we were told that you shouldn’t let a kitten try to sleep in the same room with you for the first year. However, we’re not exactly rule followers, so we let her try to sleep in the same room as us as soon as we had integrated her in with Sabrina. Unfortunately, that didn’t work out well at all, because Serenade would literally chew my hair, or bite Master while we were trying to sleep. I can deal with her sleeping on me, or stealing my pillow or something, but neither of us were fans of being bitten while we tried to sleep.
As Serenade is over a year old now, she’s technically ready to try again. Master and me both feel a bit more optimistic since Serenade has had time to mature a bit. Things are going slower than we’d hope though. She can be pretty good for most of the night, but around two or three AM, without fail she starts biting. Never enough to draw blood or anything, but it sure does make it difficult to sleep at night. One of us will usually get out of bed and put her out of the room. Poor Sabrina though, before we got Serenade, Sabrina would sleep in the same bed as us no problem – but we don’t want her to be “trapped” in the bedroom all night, and worse, we don’t want to have to put a litter box in the bedroom with us either. Can’t lock her up in any room without a litter box though.
Some nights are good, and she doesn’t do anything bad, more often than not though, she’s not making it through the night. Persistence is key.
