Meh Weekend

After putting Sabrina to sleep, the weekend was sort of doomed to a bit of somberness from the start. We were both really crushed by Sabrina’s death and her loss was felt deeply by us both all weekend. Since I was on my cycle, we had to think of more creative ways than sex to distract ourselves from the sadness we were feeling.

Unluckily, Master was also on call this weekend, so when we got home from the vet, Master had to get right to work. Stupid phone calls. :( I felt so bad for him. I mainly played video games while he was on the phone. There wasn’t a whole lot else to do. We got our grocery shopping done early that day because Master had gotten out of work early as a MLK day treat. It was nice to have him home with me. I always love any extra time I can get with him.

The next day I was feeling a bit better about Sabrina. Not happy, just in better spirits. It’s so hard listening to people tell me “She’s in a better place.” I don’t want to be rude and just say “Actually, I don’t believe in any of that, please knock it off with your religious stuff because it’s not helping right now, and never will…” but there’s a part of me that always wants to, when something really sad like this happens. I know that’s harsh, but, I respect your right to religion, please respect my right to my Atheism.

We’ve been slowly, painstakingly, working on the unpacking still. There is so much to do to get the apartment to the place we want it to be, but it looks better in here all the time, which is a relief. It’s not going to happen overnight, but it is good nonetheless.

We’ve been slowly working on regaining the strength in my foot. We went for a brief walk Friday and I only lasted 15 minutes before I got sore. Sunday we went for a hike on a trail and I lasted 30 minutes. Little by little I’m getting stronger.

To distract ourselves somewhat from the sadness we were dealing with, we set about planning our vacation in Vegas! We have a barebones itinerary. I am sure there’s a lot more we will do, but there are some things we absolutely do not want to miss, so we’ve sort of scheduled them in there. There’s plenty of time to do other things, should our energy hold out. There is really so much we’re planning on doing after our Sin in the City weekend, and we just can’t wait. We both are in terrible need of a fun getaway. Master already told me that he wants me to blog every day while we’re gone. I think the only time that’ll be really hard to blog is during the convention. Conventions always eat up your time like woah, but if it is what Master wishes then I will stay up late or get up early to get it done. We will see. I suppose it’s also going to depend on the WiFi in the hotel. We’re paying extra to make sure we have the Internet, but I have read some reviews of the hotel saying that even if you pay for the WiFi it’s hit or miss, so we’ll see.

Master has today off too! (Yay! Holiday!) And we’ve got a couple little things planned for this morning. I’m excited to spend the day with him. =^^=

  1. I’m so glad you’re feeling a little better, have been thinking of both of you and sending you strength to get through such a hard time.
I really look forward to living vicariously through you while you’re in Vegas! Lol! I’ll be glued to your blog waiting for updates so I hope the WiFi is good!

    • Thank you so much @Mrs. Teepot :) We’re still grieving, but we’re not as bad as we were.

I hope the WiFi is good, too! :) I have a feeling that if it isn’t, that we’ll probably just do like @Vanille says and I’ll make a text file to upload later. Hopefully it works out. We’re so excited! There are sooo many awesome things we’re planning on doing, and I just can’t wait. <3

  2. It gets better with time! I definitely get a little crinkle-nosed myself when people are like, “They’re in a better place.” and I just wanna FACEPALM!

Hotel WiFi is hit or miss in general. ESPECIALLY during conventions. I get it for free (somehow. O.o when my loyalty membership isn’t in the specified tier..) and my friend often uses it on her laptop to play MMOs (I don’t know HOW she did it with constant discons LOL) It’ll be okay the day before the con, but once the con picks up, it’ll start to deteriorate because most hotels put wifi in the lobby for free, and well…it turns into an internet cafe before long and then the in-room wifi will start to suffer as well.

It can be done, but best thing to do is write in a word doc or other such type and keep it saved constantly with updates because it would suck to lose your work when the wifi drops out on you! :(

    • Thanks @Vanille. I try to forgive the Vet for religious comments, mostly because we live in sort of a religious area.. But other people? It’s kind of a pain in the butt sometimes.

Yeah, we’re thinking that if the WiFi sucks we’ll just make a text file, but the convention is only three of the seven or eight days we’ll be there, so the second hotel we go to should be fine. :) Either way.. OMG! I’m so excited for our vacation! So much awesomeness in one week! :D ::Squee::

  3. Aww I wish we were going on holidays! Master has holiday time booked with his work but he can’t go on holidays unless I get another contract (which I am working on) because my income will count towards his vacation. I understand what you mean about religious people trying to comfort you in the own way. Though fortunately our family is not highly religious but they are very supportive during the rough times. Big hugs! I understand how you feel but it will get better with time.

    • @MomoNoHanna Aww, that really stinks. :( I wish you could have more vacation time with your Master to go places too. I will try to party extra hard for you when I am on vacation! Lol!

I am glad you have a supportive family though. That is a really awesome thing that I always wished I had. ::hugs::
