Smooth Lover
The more dildos I try, the more I seem to like them. MyPleasure recently sent me the Smooth Lover to try, and I was so excited to add it to my collection. I really love silicone toys a lot, and I was excited to try this one.
The toy arrives in a fairly discreet box, in that there are no nude models on it or anything inappropriate. The only thing which is a drawback to the box is that there’s a clear panel in the front, so you can see the toy. If you live with room mates, open your plain brown box away from prying eyes.
When I first saw the Smooth Lover, I thought it looked like a fairly easy to use toy with not too much texture. I did note that there’s a bump right under the semi-realistic penis head, but it didn’t look like it was going to be too much of an issue for me personally. There were a couple of whimsical curlicues on the side of the dildo, but I didn’t think that they were going to be much problem for me either.
On the bottom of the dildo, you have another bump, similar to the one beneath the head of the toy. I didn’t notice this at all during play, personally. I’m not sure if it is just there for decoration, or perhaps meant to help hold the toy in a harness. I will say that the suction cup base (while awesome) does not do much in the way of making the toy harness compatible. I find that the base of the toy is really much too thin to help the toy stay in a harness. If you are looking for a versatile harness-able dildo, I might check out one of MyPleasure’s many other great toys.
I was a bit shocked about how the toy felt during use. Honestly, I don’t mind a bit of roughness to a vibrator or dildo (but I prefer to be on the mild side of rough). I did find that the curlicues on the side of the dildo were very sharp feeling inside of me, and I didn’t like them at all. The package also says that the toy is very flexible, but I found that the toy does not like to bend unless you exert a lot of pressure, and even then, I can only get it to bend about an inch or an inch and a half in any given direction. I personally do like the stiffness, but if you’re looking for a toy that’s more pliable and that compresses easily under your touch, I am not sure I’d recommend this one.
The toy is six inches long, and 1.5″ in girth. I will say that if you’re one of those people who this would be on the larger side of a toy you typically enjoy, then you may or may not like this. Since the material is so hard, the toy feels bigger than it really is. You should also be sure to only use water based lubes with the Smooth Lover, since silicone lubes may degrade the surface of the toy.
Cleaning the Smooth Lover can be a tricky proposition as well. It has lots of little crevices that lube and sex nectar like to hide in. Then, once you wash it, soap likes to hide in those nooks too, and can be tough to rinse off. My best suggestion to you is to just boil or put this in the top rack of your dishwasher (with no soap) to get it totally clean. The choice is yours. You’re also welcome to bleach, or use a toy cleaner if you so desire.
Honestly, while this toy wasn’t for me, I think that it just didn’t work so well for my body. Those who like firm dildos with rough surfaces might really enjoy this toy. But, for me? I have to give it two paws. It just wasn’t my thing, and it wasn’t fun for me at all.
