When I was told at the beginning on December that I was anemic, I was really worried that would take forever to clear up. A lot of the things I read and heard (from doctors and friends) was that anemia takes forever to clear up. Well, I got a call on New Year’s Eve telling me that my blood counts were out of the danger zone, and into the “low normal” zone! Thank goodness for small miracles. I’ve been doing a ton of iron supplements, eating blackstrap molasses, and even having some meat (gross).
The doctor still wants me to have my ablation, because if I don’t, I’ll never be able to get off the iron pills, but this is a huge relief to me! I stopped doing all the caffeine I was doing, and, lo and behold, I am doing much better. I am not perfect, nope, but I am doing about as well as I was before that ER visit. I was even able to walk into a grocery store without need of a cart (only for a small trip, but still). I am so relieved right now.
I’m not one of those people who think that things just are automatically better once the bell tolls midnight, but, it really struck me getting this news the day before the new year. I was waiting to hear back from the doctor on whether or not to still go through with the ablation, and now that I know she does want me to go through with it, I’ve at least got a plan. I am just relieved that all my efforts are (slowly) paying off.
